Last May 11 marked a very special day for the Xana Foundation and the families it supports, as the organization was selected as this year’s beneficiary of the 45th Cursa El Corte Inglés. The foundation celebrated the occasion with great enthusiasm and has received a donation of €28,060 from El Corte Inglés, raised through the sale of the limited-edition solidarity t-shirt by Under Armour, featuring a design by artist Edgar Plans. The funds will support the foundation’s ongoing work providing comprehensive care and assistance to families with children and young people suffering from serious illnesses.
The solidarity t-shirt, created in partnership with sportswear brand Under Armour and exclusively designed by Edgar Plans, featured the superhero character Xana and her friends running through the streets of Barcelona’s Eixample district. Elena Cullell, founding trustee of the Xana Foundation, stated: “The t-shirt truly captures Xana’s energy, her smile, and her spirit. We are convinced she would have been the first to hit the pavement.”
Artist Edgar Plans expressed pride in contributing to the project, emphasizing his emotional connection to the city of Barcelona and highlighting the initiative’s social impact. Bela Cullell, director of Xana Foundation, also underscored the importance of the collaboration: “For us, it has been a true honor to be the solidarity partner of the iconic Cursa El Corte Inglés. This opportunity has helped us shed light on the realities faced by so many families, and it has allowed us to reach a wider audience to continue growing and offering support. From the Xana Foundation, we extend our heartfelt thanks to El Corte Inglés, Under Armour, Edgar Plans, and to everyone who purchased the solidarity t-shirt and made this achievement possible. Thanks to your commitment, we can continue to bring hope and support to those who need it most.”
