The work carried out by the Xana Foundation has been recognized by ONCE Catalunya with the ONCE Catalunya Solidarity Award 2025, an accolade granted since 2001 and which, in the words of its president, David Bernardo, “rewards the solidarity that we are fortunate to receive daily in Catalonia and gives visibility to people and initiatives that are often invisible.” The Xana Foundation received the Solidarity Award in the organization category at a ceremony held at the Teatre Principal in Terrassa.
“It is an honor for us to receive this solidarity award from ONCE in recognition of our work. We know how important these recognitions are, not only for the emotional boost they represent, but also for the visibility they provide and how they allow us to reach more families with children suffering from serious illnesses. The Xana Foundation was born from a very difficult and painful personal experience, but from that pain we decided to build hope for other families in the same situation. Thanks to awards like this, we can continue sowing future and hope,” said Bela Cullell, director of the Xana Foundation, who, together with the other awardees, received the sculptural piece SOLIDARIS.
The ONCE Catalunya Solidarity Awards have been held since 2001. Since then, recipients have included, among others, Miquel Martí i Pol, Josep Maria Espinàs, Pere Casaldàliga, Father Manel, and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation. This year, along with the Xana Foundation, the awardees were the Betevé podcast “Cup of TEA-Living with ASD”; Maria Assumpció Vilà Planas for her outstanding career in the field of social volunteering linked to the city of Barcelona; the City Council of Caldes de Montbui for its commitment to welcoming people arriving from abroad through its First Reception Service; and the company Torrons Vicens for its long tradition linked to solidarity through initiatives such as “El Torró Solidari de RAC1”, in collaboration with RAC1.
